Great Fish Point

Yesterday the vessel I'm on passed a prominent navigation point along the South African coast known as the Great Fish Point. This point serves as a starting point for most voyages across the Indian ocean to Malacca, Indonesia, Mauritius and other far east Asian countries.
During the last couple of days, I have been seeing a number of coastal landmarks along the South African coast. This is because of the route that we chose to take to avoid strong currents setting south, known internationally as "the Agulhas currents". The choice of the route was done by the Captain, a senior seafarer with 40 years of experience. This helped for two reasons. The going on this route could get dangerous anytime due to onshore sets, which requires guidance from a person aware of local conditions. Second, the stories.
Photos soon on Instagram.
